Parents
- Parents ultimately give consent for testing and placement. Parents can also be key players in the identification process, noticing signs at home.
- Parents should be the number one advocate for their gifted child. Parents and teachers must work together and open the lines of communication.
- Parents and teachers also must work together to teach the student self-advocacy. It is important for students to be taught that there will come a day when they will have to advocate for themselves, and they must be equipped to do so effectively.
- Upon enrollment at a school site, parents should be provided with a list of all available services that the school offers - regardless of whether the student is initially qualified or not.
