Students continued their work with apostrophes. Students used the Writer's Choice textbook and worked on page 602, exercise 11. Students rewrote the sentence correctly placing apostrophes where needed. See the file below.

Students continued their work with Apostrophes. Students reviewed the PowerPoint below and then composed examples of each rule for apostrophes on their individual whiteboards.

Students began a new topic today, the 8 parts of speech. Students watched a Flocabulary video on the parts of speech. (student2444 username and password). Students discussed the first four parts.
Students worked with manipulates to sort examples of each part. They then used whiteboards to compose sentences using a part from each category.

- noun --> person, place, thing, idea.
- verb --> action or state of being.
- adjective --> describes a noun.
- adverb --> describes a verb.

Students continued working with the 8 parts of speech, learning the next four parts.
- pronoun --> takes the place of a noun.
- preposition --> tells where or when something happened.
- conjunction --> connects sentences or phrases together.
- interjection --> interrupts a sentence.
Students worked with manipulates to sort examples of each part. They then used whiteboards to label the parts of speech in the sentence example below. (Colors correspond to the parts of speech as listed above.)

Students took their week quiz on Edmodo.com after watching the Unit 5 Flocabulary rap video.
Monday, December 8 students will take a writing test that will count for 40% of their semester exam grade. On Thursday, December 11, students will take the second part of their semester exam, which will make up the remaining 60% of the exam grade. A study guide will be posted next week.
