Students began a new unit of study. Students discussed their ideas of how poetry is defined. Students talked about the poet ee cummings and completed a name play activity. Students wrote their names in a new and different way, similar to how ee cummings did when he wrote.
For this entire two week study, students will be using a packet of materials that they will use in reading class and language arts class. These items cannot be reproduced online. Therefore, only certain images of the activities will be shown. Students must take care of and be responsible for their packets.

Students completed task two as a class from the ee cummings packet.
Students then completed a sensory language activity using sweetart candies. Students answered the following questions using descriptive sensory language regarding sweetarts.

Wed 10/29/14 - Early Out
Students completed an Everyday Edit in class to work on their conventions skills. Students then completed a portion of their ee cummings packets. Students broke down the essential question: How does ee cummings use sight and sound to create meaning?
Analyze means to break something down into its pieces.
The terms sight (visual) and sound (auditory) are important in this question.
