Students began the topic of quotation marks. Quotation marks are used for two reasons, pictured to the left. Students then recalled the difference between text explicit questions and inferential questions, pictured below. Students worked as a team to correctly place quotation marks in sentences making a "human chain."

Tues 10/14/14
Students talked about using quotation marks when citing textual evidence. Quotation marks must be used because you are giving credit for using someone else's ideas. Students answered text explicit and inferential questions using the two stories below to cite textual evidence with quotation marks.

Students completed vocabulary centers to study for their Unit 3 test, which is tomorrow. If students did not complete a center, they must complete it for homework. CLICK HERE for centers.

Students took their Unit 3 vocabulary test after watching the Flocabulary video for the unit.

Fri 10/17/14
Students were introduced to Everyday Edits. Everyday Edits are paragraphs with errors that are used to help students with their skills for editing conventions (spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.) Students also completed a reflection on their learning and effort based on their mini 2 essay.
