Students discussed introductory paragraphs for their essay Mini 2 on the prompt and stories below. Students watched a Flocabulary video on Thesis Statements and viewed portions of a Power Point (below) on writing introductions.
Prompt: Compare Linnie's attitude towards horses with Manuel's attitude about being a kept horse. Do you think Linnie and Manuel would have been compatible? Use details from both passages to support your answer.

Introductions: include a hook, the topic, your opinion on the topic, and a thesis statement
Hooks: You have to get your reader interested
