Today students learned an acronym to help them remember the rules for capitalization.
- Months need to be capitalized. Relationships when the relation is unknown need to be capitalized.
- The pronoun I or any contraction using the pronoun I needs to be capitalized.
- Proper names
- Titles
- Start of every sentence.
Examples:
M - My sister's birthday is in October.
My uncle David lives on a mountain.
Yesterday, Uncle David had a barbeque.
I - My sister and I enjoy concerts together.
N - Ms. Taylor and Ms. Blackard run student council at Saint Lucie West K-8 School.
T - Before going to work, Dr. Smith read the New York Times.
S - These are all examples.
HOMEWORK: Begin Unit 2 Week 2 vocab, due Friday

Students continued their work with capitalization and the MINTS rules. Students watched a Flocabulary on Capitalization. (Username and password is student 2444.) They then practiced giving examples of the MINTS rules. Students began an individual practice worksheet on capitalization.

Students finished the Capitalization 1 and 2 practice sheet above. Students reviewed MINTS and focused on the M (for moms = meaning relationships.) See the picture below for explanation.

Students continued working on their ACE project using the story "A Retrieved Reformation" by O. Henry. Students were to complete the front side of the sheet.
