Target: Students will understand expectations.
Today students discussed the classroom and school expectations. Review the PowerPoint below. Students played an icebreaker game, "If You Really Knew Me, You Would Know That..."
Homeroom will have a quiz on the code of conduct later in the week. Click HERE to access the SLCPS Student Code of Conduct. (It is on the right hand side, about halfway down the page.)
HOMEWORK: Bring a composition and a spiral notebook for tomorrow. Get Classroom Policy signed by parent/guardian.

Today students set up their vocabulary notebooks, their in-class journals, and continued discussing classroom expectations. Students began working on their vocabulary for Unit 1 Week 1. Click HERE for directions for Vocabulary homework.
HOMEWORK: Signed classroom policy due Friday. Continue working on Unit 1 Week 1, due Friday.

Students examined the idea of classifying items into categories and accepted that not everything has to fit into a category. Students used circle maps to brainstorm how they define their expectations for 7th grade. Examples are below.

Students began their pre-test baseline assessment in class. Students were given passages to read and asked to plan an essay according to the given prompt. This is a non-graded assignment given to merely assess the student's current standing with writing.

Students completed their baseline assessment in class. Students also turned in their first homework assignment.
