Students continued discussing figurative language devices. They learned about hyperboles and rhetorical questions. Hyperboles are exaggerations that are used in writing for dramatic effect or for humor. Rhetorical questions are questions that are asked in which the answer is already implied, or not actually expected. Students watched a short video clip of examples of hyperboles. Students then wrote a 5-7 sentence persuasive paragraph trying to sell a real or invented object. Students had to include 1 simile, 1 hyperbole, and 1 rhetorical question.
