Students learned about the figurative language device of personification. Personification is giving animals or objects human qualities. Students read two fables in our Elements of Literature textbook. Fables are old tales, often involving animals that teach a lesson or a moral. Click below for the stories.

Students put the morals of the stories in their own words and discussed the human qualities given to the animals in the stories.

Students were given time to work on their vocabulary in class.

Students began discussing sensory language. Students were given Jolly Ranchers and asked a series of questions. They had to use their five senses to describe the Jolly Ranchers and were prohibited from using certain words.
