Students went over in depth the steps of the Writing Process. (Click Here 01/21/14)
Students reviewed figurative language and persuasive devices (pictured left.) Students examine the parts of a formal letter using the example found on page 329 of Writer's Choice.
Students composed a letter to Batman asking him to "calm down" a little. Students had to use at least two figurative language devices and one persuasive device.
HOMEWORK: Continue Unit 9 Week 2 vocab. If <89 on Week Quiz from Friday, complete the study guide below, due TOMORROW.

Students learned about the figurative language device of personification. Personification is giving animals or objects human qualities. Students read two fables in our Elements of Literature textbook. Fables are old tales, often involving animals that teach a lesson or a moral. Click below for the stories.

Students began working on a two part poster project on Fables/Personification. Students were given a large sheet of printer paper to divide in half. (See example below) Students had to create a top poster and a bottom bubble map (describing) using the guidelines pictured to the left.
