Week of 02/23/15 - 02/27/15
Mon 02/23/15
Students are going to write an essay to enter in a national essay contest for the novella, Anthem. Read more about the contest by clicking HERE. Today students broke apart the prompt, and defined key terms to obtain a better understanding of what they are to actually write about.
Opposition means to rebel or resist an authoritative figure.
Obedience means to comply to an order without resistance.
Drudgery means very hard work or an unpleasant, difficult job.
Fear means to be scared of something, frightened, or worried.
PROMPT: Aside from very rare exceptions, there is literally no opposition to the leaders in this society. Why is this? What ideas must the people have accepted to live a life of obedience, drudgery, and fear?
